A website built for makers, and kept up to date afterwards
Getting a website built takes three steps: you decide what the site has to do, someone builds it, and then someone has to keep it up to date. That third step is nearly always forgotten, and it decides whether your site still makes sense six months from now. If you make or programme work, something changes every month: show dates, a ticket link, a different cast, new photos. I build your site and keep it current afterwards, so you stop thinking about it.
What does it cost to get a website built?
It depends on what is in it. Building is a one-off: design, text, images, the technical side. What comes after runs on: new dates added, old ones removed, a line that has to be rewritten.
Most quotes only cover that first part. Always ask what a change costs after the site goes live, and how long you wait for it. That is the difference between a site that keeps up and a site that stands still.
With me, keeping it up to date is simply part of the deal.
Why does a maker's site fall behind so quickly?
Because your season moves and a website does not move with it on its own. A try-out is added, a festival drops out, the tour gets a name, the photographer delivers new images.
Most builders hand you a system so you can do it yourself. On paper that sounds fine. In real life you are digging through an admin screen at half past midnight after a show, looking for where that one date was hiding.
So my way of working leaves you no homework.
Who keeps the site up to date once it is live?
I do. You send a message or an email with what changed — new dates, a different ticket link, a line that is no longer true — and I put it on the site.
You do not log in, you do not learn anything new, and you do not wait for someone to find a gap in their week. You get back a short note of what changed, so you can check it.
That way your site stays the place where a programmer, a booker or a visitor finds what is actually true.
How does building work with me?
First a conversation about what the site has to do. Sell tickets? Convince bookers? Simply show where you play? Everything after that follows from the answer.
Then I build the part you need first and put it online. You look at it, you say what should be different, and the rest grows onto it. No waiting months for one big delivery.
Your site goes live in Dutch, English and French. Useful the moment you play abroad or foreign programmers land on your page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change things myself as well?
Yes, you can. But you do not have to: you tell me what should be different and I do it.
How long before my site is online?
The first part goes up quickly, because I do not wait until everything is finished. I build the rest onto it while your site is already live.
How do I start?
Email info@mia-automation.com with what you make and what is going wrong on your site now. You get an honest answer, including when I think you do not need me for this.
Tell me briefly what you make and what your site has to do, and I will look at it with you.
